Young Mom, Old Mom

This is an interesting survey in Baby Talk magazine about "old mothers versus young mothers."

Thank God, because I've been actively looking for yet another way to pass judgment on other moms.

One thing caught my eye though and that is that over half of "older mothers" wish they'd had children younger and only twenty-two percent of "younger mothers" wish they would have waited.

My mom was 23 when her first was born and 43 when her last was born. I think she would say there were plusses and minuses about both circumstances.

That said, the other day I was thinking that if my daughter waits until her mid-thirties to have kids, then her children will only remember me as an old, old lady. I didn't like that image.

I had my first at 35, and then my second at 39. I admit my energy is not what it was in my twenties. But I would not have had the maturity to cope with being a parent in my twenties....tuff question...

I think I had kids at the perfect age - for me!
I was 30, 31, 32, and 34 when I had them.
I wish I was younger NOW, but don't wish I was younger when having my kids. I just wish I could stay 30 for about 10 years ;)

you're absolutely right - we all need new ways to undermine each other! cos being a parent isn't quite tricky enough - and there's always a chance that someone might be doing it better than you ...

Yeah, but younger moms don't know enough to know they should have waited.

Kidding! I'm kidding! (sort of)

When I was preggo with my first son, I thought "What the hell am I doing? I'm waaaayyy to young to have kids!" I was 25.

Second son at 27...and now third at hmmm...30.

It's perfect for me. But also consider that I have a husband 10 years older than me. It makes a big difference in the dynamics of our family.
